Who is organizing this Freedom School?
Our curriculum team is composed of Black public school curriculum professionals, teachers, and university professors. A coalition of majority-White and majority-Black churches working with community organizations are the main sources of funding, arranging logistics, student recruitment, and publicity. The pilot school is hosted by Dream City, a community organization with a proven history of empowering communities of color for positive change.
Who are the teachers and staff of the Freedom School?
Local educators, community members, and Dream City staff will be the primary staff for the Freedom School, supported by community volunteers - all who have been trained in creating safe spaces for children and youth.
What does it cost?
There is no charge to attend Freedom School. Grants and donations have been secured to be able to offer this experience free to all who attend.
